8000 year old Edakkal cave, is one of the tourist spot in Wayanad district of Kerala in India.Edakkal means ' a stone in between '.Edakkal caves are famous for its pictorical paintings ,which are considered to be of 6000 BC.The most common subjects in cave paintings are large wild animals , such as deer,horses,aurochs ,bison ,and tracing of human hands as well as abstract patterns ,called finger fluttings.The caves were discovered by Fred Fawcett ,Superintendent of police ,Malabar District in 1896.
