Panikoorka is popularly used in INDIA  to treat cough and cold in children.Leaves of panikoorka is used for treating different health problems.Panikoorka is the herb with the name plectanthus amboinicus.It is known as Panthar choor(in Hindi) ,Karpooravalli (in Tamil) ,Panikoorka(in Malayalam)  or Indian borage.The botanical name of Karpooravalli plant is Plectranthus Amboinicus and it belongs to the family.

Panikoorka is traditionally known to be having numerous therapeutic effects.Panikoorka is also said to treat bronchial asthma,and common ailments like arthritis,epilepsy ,insect bites,stings,allergies,ulcer,indigestion,diarrhoea and urinary tract infection as well as improve lactation in nursing mothers when take as a juice.It is also used for treating hair problems like grey hair and dandruff,aiding weight loss,for promoting hair growth .If we just touch karpooravalli leaves,the beautiful refreshing smell will linger in our hands for a long time.An essential oil is also distilled from the leaves and it also has amazing medicinal uses due to the presence of large amounts of bio active compounds.It is used in preparing certain pachadi,chutney,and Rasam.

KALLURUKKI -- MEDICAL BENEFITS

Scoparia dulcs is a species of flowering plant in the plantain family.Common names include Licorice weed  and Sweet -nbroom in English,tapeicava, and vassourinha in portuguese,escobilla in Spanish,and tipycha kuratu in Guarani .Sweet Broomweed plant medicine common name : Kallurukki in Malayalam.

Scoparia dulcs is a green errect annual herb that grows up to 30 cm in height.In Kerala, it is known as kallurukki and it is used for the treatment of kidney stones.In fact in malayalam,"kal" means stone and "urukki" means "melter".

The whole part of the raw plant is to be ground,it can be made into a solid bolus to be swallowed or it can be boiled to give a dark liquid drink.Very effective,the pain mostly goes away in just two days.continue taking the medicine,the stones reduce in size and one might pass it out while urinating without any pain.Diet- precautions:

They say one must avoid tomato seeds,cabbage,cucumber intake must be reduced,palak,tea without milk,spinach.But yes,drink lots of water and pass out urine frequently.In Brazil,it has been used for various problems such as hemorrhoids and wounds and used for hypertension in Taiwan.In Siddha medicine it is used for treatment of Kidney stones.
